Acupuncture

Acupuncturists believe that the underlying principle of treatment is that illness and pain occur when the body’s 'qi', or vital energy, cannot flow freely.  There can be many reasons for this; emotional and physical stress, poor nutrition, infection or injury are among the most common.

By inserting ultra-fine sterile needles into specific acupuncture points, an acupuncturist seeks to re-establish the free flow of qi to restore balance and trigger the body’s natural healing response.

At Balance we focus on abdominal acupuncture, - a specialized form of acupuncture that originated in China. It involves inserting thin needles into specific points on the abdomen, - which is considered a microsystem, reflecting the entire body, and these points are carefully chosen to correspond with different organs, meridians, and physiological functions.

This technique is particularly beneficial for conditions related to digestion, gynecological issues, and emotional imbalances. It's also used for pain management and stress reduction. Abdominal acupuncture is well-tolerated and provides a gentle yet powerful approach to healing. It can be used alone or in combination with other acupuncture techniques.

Our ractitioner may select abdominal acupuncture based on the patient's specific needs and health goals. The technique is highly regarded for its ability to address both physical and emotional aspects of health, making it a versatile and valuable treatment option in Traditional Chinese Medicine.

cupping

Cupping Therapy

Cupping is an ancient Chinese method of causing local congestion. A partial vacuum is created in cups placed on the skin either by means of heat or suction. This draw up the underlying tissues. When the cup is left in place on the skin for a few minutes, blood stasis is formed and localised healing takes place.

Cupping has also been found to affect the body up to four inches into the tissues, causing tissues to release toxins, activate the lymphatic system, clear colon blockage  & help activate and clear the veins, arteries and capillaries.

Natural Herbal Remedies

Chinese Herbal Medicine is one of the great herbal systems of the world, with an unbroken tradition going back to the 3rd century BC.

Herbal Remedies are used to correct patterns of disharmony with the body. Herbs are rarely used on their own; most prescriptions consist of a mix of difference substances. There are complex relationships between the different components of prescriptions and much skill is needed to select the most appropriate combination of herbs to compose a balanced and effective formula specific to your needs.
